Positive Thing #1
Kudos to Massena Village Mayor Jim Hidy's suggestion to postpone Spring Cleanup days until after Easter. The mayor says holding them earlier means the piles of junk will be an eyesore during the Easter holiday, when some people will be visiting the village. He's right. It won't hurt anything by delaying it a couple weeks and then the village won't look like a dump for teh holiday. However, I don't agree with delaying it until Fall. The biggest issue I see is the village's failure to cite those residents who refuse to abide by the rule of putting stuff out to the just one week before pick-up. These bozos dump the stuff out front way in advance either because they can't be bothered to find out when their stuff will be picked up, or they just don't care. Maybe a ticket from the code enforcement officer and trip before the village court bench would wake them up. It high time we hold these negligent residents responsible for their behavior. And a couple hundred dollars in fines might be just what is needed to straighten them up. What say you?

I would generally agree. The delay will give us more time to get organized for cleanup days. I have one concern that Jimmy should hear about. The north side always gets picked up first. That give the other side more time to get ready for it. Could that be switched this year? If it were alternated, I think it would be more fair.
